Join us on a journey through the dazzling streets of Las Vegas, where we immersed ourselves in the vibrant Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) and indulged in a world of entertainment, sightseeing, and mouthwatering eats.
Flights:
We flew round trip with United Airlines. From Grand Cayman to Las Vegas with one stop in Houston. Our total travel time was about 13 hours.
Hotel: The Strat Hotel – 2000 S Las Vegas Blvd
We decided to stay at The Strat Hotel. This hotel was great however, it is a little way from the main Las Vegas Strip. So, if you want to be in the heart of the strip, I recommend somewhere else like the Aria Hotel. Our reasons for staying here also had to do with shuttles to the Electric Daisy Carnival (but we will come to this later).
Journey to Antelope Canyon:
We decided to visit the beautiful Antelope Canyon located in Page, Arizona on our first day. Here’s the details!
We booked a tour of the Lower Antelope Canyon. They say that the Lower Antelope Canyon is less crowded as it’s harder to maneuver. You must be in good physical health to do the Lower Canyon therefore, more people tend to go for the Upper Canyon as its easier to navigate.
Tours must be booked in advance and we used Ken’s Canyon Tours:
We booked the 2:30pm tour. However, do note that there is a time difference between Nevada and Arizona so keep that in mind if you wish to drive from Vegas to Page, Arizona like we did.
It took us 4 hours to drive to Page, Arizona from Las Vegas. However, the drive was easy as the views were incredible! We also had good music, good company and stopped for food on the way. We stopped at the highly rated Mexican Restaurant called “Los Lupes” and got burritos, tacos and chimichangas. We actually called in advance to place our order and took it to go.
We also stopped a gas station which had locally made jerky! No roadtrip through the desert is complete without fresh beef jerky!!
Upon arrival, we checked in and received a guided tour by a very knowledgeable Navajo guide. She was great and provided us with amazing photos and educational facts along the way. The tour itself lasted about 2 hours.
Once finished, we drove back to Vegas and arrived around 9:30/10:00pm. It’s a very doable day trip from Vegas and should be done if you have any interest in seeing these magnificent canyons.
Our Favourite Vegas Eats:
Of course, we had to stop at the famous In-N-Out Burger. We never stray from the Double, Double, Animal Style Burger as this secret menu item is our go-to fav.
Our favourite spot was Shokku Ramen. This 24-Hour ramen joint is located in China Town as is THEE PERFECT spot for late night/after club eats! Their menu is creatively unique, but the flavors manage to remain traditional. You can’t go wrong with anything you order. We had the Pork Belly Nachos, Oxtail Ramen, and the Surf & Turf Ramen.
Another item on our bucket list was the Hello Kitty Café (don’t judge!). There are two Hello Kitty Café’s in Las Vegas, one at the Park MGM and the other is located within Fashion Mall. Of course, we went to the latter as we won’t miss any opportunity to shop. We got a regular cappuccino which came in the cutest cup and a Hello Kitty Sugar Cookie!
Fuku Burger was a must as we saw it all over TikTok, their dubbed “Las Vegas’ Best Burger” and their burgers were definitely AMAZING, the vibes are also great! All burgers cost the same price. We got the classic FUKU Burger and the BUTA Burger. Still dreaming about them.
To finish, our fanciest dinner experience was dining at the “On Top of the World” Restaurant which is actually located 106 stories above The Strat Hotel. This restaurant has unparalleled views of Vegas and takes fine dining to another level. Literally. Our favourite menu item was the Wagyu Ribcap. Making reservations in advance is highly recommended.
Nightclubs & Pool Parties:
At night, we ended up going to OMNIA Night Club to watch the famous EDM DJ, Illenium. OMNIA is located inside of Caesar’s Palace and we highly recommend buying tickets in advance (at least VIP) to avoid any disappointments at the door. They are also very strict on dress code so ensure your outfits are what’s required (Nice clubwear).
In the day, we ended up at the famous Wet Republic Pool Party. This day club is owned by the TAO Group and hosts a series of international DJs throughout the summer. Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix and others frequent here quite often. Once again, tickets are required in advance to avoid disappointment. We went with a table which enabled us to gain shade/coverage from the sun, bottles, and food.
Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC):
We ventured to Vegas to attend the highly anticipated 3-day, Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC). EDC is the largest EDM festival in North America! People from all over the world fly to Vegas to attend this incredible event. Here’s our top tips and tricks to ensure you have the best experience:
Buy VIP tickets in advance (on a payment plan). VIP is worth the money. Although it’s still crowded, the lines are far shorter, and the amenities are great. When purchasing, select the WILLCALL option so that you can pickup your wristbands on arrival.
Getting to the Festival: We ended getting premier shuttle passes. This was the easiest and fastest way to EDC. We do not recommend driving as you’ll be stuck in traffic on the roads and in the parking lot for hours.
Do: Dress up! Wear your rave gear (wear comfortable shoes). Vegas isn’t cold so you can get away with wearing whatever you’d like, just don’t wear too much as you’ll get hot. Pro-tip: Wear your most uncomfortable outfit on the first night. That way, you’re more comfortable on the remaining two nights.
Do: Bring an empty water bottle. Full ones aren’t allowed on the shuttles, but they have water stations throughout the festival for you to fill up your bottles on arrival. This will save you a lot of time/money trying to get bottles of water during the event.
Overall, we had a great time and we’re already looking forward to going back!
